Molly Sampson, Executive Director – Maritime Museum of Sandusky.
In addition to displays featuring passenger boats, boatbuilding, and commercial fishing, the museum has an area devoted to the Lake Erie segment of the Underground Railroad. Ms. Sampson will talk on the role Lake Erie port towns such as Sandusky and Cleveland played prior to the Civil War in helping runaway slaves elude slavecatchers and cross the lake to freedom to establish a new life in Canada.
