SATURDAY SEPT 20
Introduction to Epoxy
One 3 hr. session 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Class fee: $90
Class size: 12 participants
Epoxy is an amazingly versatile material. It is can be used as a glue, gap filler, and encapsulator. But you have to know how to use it. In this one morning session you will learn hands-on how to mix epoxy, how to select thickeners, and how to make glue joints. You’ll also learn how to use it with fiberglass tapes and cloths, how to encapsulate wooden panels, and importantly how to use epoxy safely. The class will take the mystery out of epoxy and give you the confidence to comfortably work with it.
WEDNESDAY SEPT 24
Fasteners for the Boat Environment
One 2 hr. session 7:00 – 9:00 PM
Class fee: $50
Class size: 12 participants
Choice of fasteners can literally make or break a project. Explore the variety of common fasteners for the aquatic environment and how to pick the right one for the job. Learn how to use fasteners in both wood and metals. Importantly, you’ll learn how to properly drill for fasteners in fiberglass and how to bed and install hardware.
SATURDAY, OCT 4
Intro to Woodworking for Adult and Child
Four 3 hr. sessions 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Class fee: $225 for an adult / child pair
Class size: Five pairs
Whether you are a parent, grandparent, or simply a person who wants to introduce a young person (minimum age 12) to the world of tools and woodworking this is your opportunity. During four sessions, you and your young person will build their first tool box using basic woodworking tools. Along the way they will learn how to approach and plan a project and how to use a variety of common hand tools, skills that will last them a lifetime.
WEDNESDAY OCT 8
Oar and Paddlemaking
Six 2 hr. sessions 7:00 – 9:00 PM
Class fee: $160/paddle, $200/oars
Class size: Four participants
You’ll begin by designing a paddle or set of oars to match your physical size and boat. You will then glue up a wood blank and learn to use common woodworking tools such as handsaws, planes, spokeshaves, and chisels to sculpt a paddle or oars that just feels so right in your hands. No woodworking skills required.
