Wischmeyer Pram Launched

Seventy years ago Henry Wischmeyer, an amateur Bay Village naval architect,  drew plans for a 10 ft. utility pram.  It got launched on his 151th birthday, September 27, 2023.  A crowd of well-wishers from CABBS and the Bay Village Historical Society enjoyed the launch festivities at Bay Village’s  Huntington Beach on Lake Erie.

The lake was too rough for an extensive row to get to know her characteristic but she got wet and now LITTLE HENRY is ready for more adventures and workboat activities along the downtown waterfront.

A big thank you goes out to Cathy Flament and the Bay Village Historical Society for their cooperation on this effort and to the CABBS members who built the boat:  Tom Baugher, Bill Donoho, Steve Frye, Paul Jira, John Mikolich, Cindy Verbiak, Dave Weglicki and Ed Neal who led the effort.  And lets not forget that this all started with two Davis Aerospace & Maritime High School students in the CABBS after-school boatbuilding club, Quinton Oliver and Jesus Sierra who suggested we build a workboat to help clean up North Coast Harbor.
