Check out our three new classes starting in October. All classes are at our workspace in the Cleveland State downtown area. No fees due until October. INTRO TO BOATBUILDING VIA THE PADDLEBOARD
8 Tuesday evenings, 7 – 9 PM.
Starts October 15th
Class fee: $255
Class limited to 8 participants
You will learn basic boatbuilding skills by building a 12’6” wooden paddleboard. Working as a team, the class will learn the boatbuilding techniques of stitch-n-glue and cedar strip construction. You will work with marine plywood, red cedar strips, copper wire, epoxy and fiberglass cloth. No woodworking or boatbuilding experience necessary. INTRO TO BASIC WOODWORKING
6 Wednesday evenings, 7 – 9 PM.
Starts October 16th
Class fee: $180
Class limited to 12 participants
Hands-on you will learn to use basic woodworking tools: saws, chisels, rasps and planes. You will learn basic gluing and screw assembly techniques. Class participants will learn hands-on by building their own tool box. No woodworking experience necessary. Participants will gain a solid, starting foundation for working with wood and take home a well-made tool box.
OAR AND PADDLE MAKING
5 Thursday evenings 7 – 9 PM.
Starts October 10th. SORRY! THE CLASS IS SOLD-OUT
Class fee: $160 to make one paddle, $200 to make a set of oars
Class limited to 6 participants
You will learn how to design your paddle or oars to match your body size and application requirements. Then you will craft the paddle or oars from various hardwoods and shape them using basic woodworking hand and power tools. Some woodworking experience helpful but not necessary. Participants will leave the class with their own completed paddle or set of oars.
